So far...

I was interviewed toward the end of March by my current manager. I had to rush to the interview right after school since I only had a few minutes to get there. It went well and I was informed on the spot that I was given the job.
My training was only one week and I had to learn a lot fast. The guy that did my job before me was going to a new job and his last day was that Friday. We went through how to cut, or edge, the lenses all in 2 days and how to sort and spot (align the lens to the right prescription and mark it) the next 2 days. The last day we went over everything I had learned to check if there was anything I needed help with.
My job starts of with receiving a box of lenses and sorting them into the correct tray along with the patient's chosen glasses. I then go on to spot them and sort the trays in order of when the came in, form oldest to most recent. Then comes the edging part, which consists of putting a block pad on the lenses placed by aligning the marks on the lense to the traced shape of the frame. The edging is done by the machine after I input all the data and prescription. Then I clean them off, insert them into the frames, and put them aside to be verified.
